How to Kill Corona Viruses

I’ve read a couple of articles this week by medical doctors explaining how simple it is to kill or disable corona viruses, including COVID 19. This is GREAT news!

Apparently corona viruses are a type of virus that has a fatty coating of molecules. And what household item do we usually use to dissolve fats? Soap! Soap and warm water are our first defense in keeping our homes germ free.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, household isopropyl alcohol is also effective at dissolving and disabling these viruses. This gives me more confidence in keeping my home and family safe.

Alcohol must be isopropyl rather than denatured and the most effective concentrations are between 60% and 80%. If you have isopropyl alcohol higher than 80%, it is suggested that you dilute the alcohol about 50% with water. Ethyl alcohol at 60% concentration can also be effective.

Doctors are recommending that first, we clean hard surfaces or skin with soap and warm water. After cleaning surfaces, to further disinfect, spray or wipe with the alcohol. They say that hand sanitizer is not the most effective for cleaning our hands. So whenever washing with soap and water is available, that is the best choice. If those are unavailable, then use hand sanitizer.

So keep washing and using good old soap and water for the most effective fight against illness! We can beat this!
